We had a blast last night, taking in sets from Montreal’s longest running improv troupe: On the Spot; the solo virtuosity of Chicago’s incredible Andy Eninger ( can’t wait to see him again tonight!); and a full-on improvised French farce ( complete with costumes, makeup. & delightful gameplay) from Austin’s Parallelogramophonograph. That’s them onstage in the picture.
Our own set went over well… Folks seemed to be digging “Pushpins” and we had a ton of fun playing. (Got the suggestion of “angel” and built a seaside town in the shade of a great basilica where the residents of the local rectory had a lucrative secret, “intense relaxation” hammocks were a primary industry, the beach bar – and most everything else – kept catching fire, surfers had no scruples, canasta was a violent game and almost everyone became ghosts in the end.) Very happy.
Now the question is: what to do tonight? Our good pals from Ottawa’s Crush Improv are here, meaning that Superstar DJ AL Connors could play with us if we decided to revisit one of our favourite projects: iProj. We’ll see…
